It's probably a misconception that medical expenses are the leading cause of insolvency (some research pegs it at only around 4%), but everyone concurs that if you're stretched too thin economically, and after that you have a massive medical expenditure on top of that, it isn't great. Incidentally, when the Affordable Care Act was initially passed, you had to pay a charge tax for going without health protection unless you fulfilled specific exemption requirements, consisting of financial difficulty.
(If you were uninsured in 2018, you will be penalized on your 2021 tax kind for that.)So, sure, you could argue: "Hey, no fee. I do not need to get medical insurance." You could argue that, but please don't. The Affordable Care Act has been stuck in debate for many years, partially due to the needed fee, but whatever one's feelings about the ACA, we can probably all agree that it's a great concept to have health insurance coverage. http://jasperpjha239.jigsy.com/entries/general/what-health-insurance-pays-for-gym-membership-fundamentals-explained |
